What a Difference 10 Years Makes

A few weeks ago when I got home from Denver I'd taken a long weekend and visited a Nursery to stock up on plants.  I chose a few for our hillside because we try to add a few new plants each year to see what takes, and what doesn't and enjoy watching the hillside fill in.  I also got some flowers for the pots around our back yard and our front patio.

I was looking through old photos recently and found a couple of the hillside behind our pool that made me realize just how much things have changed around here.

December 2000 while we were doing our Inspection walk-thru of the house we'd just bought (we moved in May 2001)

This photo is from our first pool party, Summer of 2001.

Now compare it to this Spring:

April 2012

It's filling in nicely - out of sight to the right in the photo is another Redwood tree and a bunch of Crepe Myrtle trees.  To the left, partially out of the photo is the area we're trying to fill in now.  In 2002 we planted a Weeping Willow tree there, but a couple years ago it fell down in one of the big storms.  Without the shade of the Willow tree nothing has taken root.  We're trying again, with another Redwood.  The other two were planted about 7 years ago.

Some of you may notice some other changes:  Kari and Stephen remodeled their house, oh, and our remodeled pool and waterfall.
